The program will help educators improve their elementary and middle school instruction about the American Constitution, why it was instituted, and how it works. Twice monthly virtual sessions from September through January will illuminate the importance of shared knowledge, understanding history, and help teachers to teach students about the many important ways there are to speak out and exercise one’s rights.
Registrants for Why America? 2020 – Toward a More Perfect Union receive free access to the professional development and certification platform CredEd. Information on how to sign-up for CredEd will be sent to all registrants.
Attendees can earn 1 CEU per hour long session and can earn at least 12 CEUs for the entire 12-Session Why America? 2020 program. Registrants will also gain access to thousands of CredEd‘s professional development courses with a complimentary 12-month subscription. Free subscriptions are limited, so register early!
CredEd is a global education, credentialing, and digital learning organization designed to support the next generation of education professionals. Their focus is on educators as fundamentally central to systemic school reform initiatives, and the need to support the growth pathways for those professionals. Digital portfolios, on-demand professional development, and online peer communities make CredEd the leader in this area.
Teachers will get the chance to create lesson plans based on each session and submit within a week of that session. The lesson plan will be reviewed by an advisor and selected as the Master Teacher of the Week. Their lesson plan will be published in CER’s teacher resource center and the recognized teacher will be invited to join the teacher panel at the next event. That’s not all: as teachers are often under-resourced, the winning teacher will receive a prize to supplement their teaching made possible by the generous support of the Diana Davis Spencer Foundation.
Why America? is a service of The Center for Education Reform.
